Hidrogenii Boosts Hydrogen Production in North America through Louisiana Plant
Key Ideas
  • Capacity increased to 40 TPD, enhancing self-reliance and reducing dependence on external suppliers.
  • Strategic expansion strengthens regional hydrogen network through efficient joint venture.
  • Partnership with Olin ensures access to a reliable hydrogen source for Plug's material handling customers.
  • Commissioning in Louisiana marks a significant step towards supporting the U.S. transition to low-carbon energy.
Plug Power and Olin have commissioned a 15 metric-ton-per-day hydrogen liquefaction plant in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, through their joint venture Hidrogenii. This facility increases Plug's total production capacity to 40 TPD, complementing existing facilities in Georgia and Tennessee. The joint venture aims to strengthen the regional hydrogen supply chain and support the U.S. transition to low-carbon energy by providing a reliable hydrogen source for material handling customers. The commissioning of this facility significantly enhances production capacity, reducing reliance on third-party suppliers and expanding Plug's hydrogen network position strategically. With this strategic expansion, Hidrogenii is poised to better serve customers in the eastern and southern United States, contributing to Plug Power's growth in the hydrogen sector and supporting the overall energy transition towards a low-carbon future.
