Hidrogenii, a joint venture formed by Plug Power, a US green hydrogen company, and Olin Corporation, a chemical manufacturing firm, has launched a substantial hydrogen liquefaction plant in St Gabriel, Louisiana. The 15-tonnes-per-day plant is now operational, making it one of the largest electrolytic hydrogen liquefaction facilities in North America. Its primary purpose is to liquefy hydrogen produced by Olin, facilitating shipments to customers via trailers within the US. Plans are in place to boost the plant's capacity to handle 40 tonnes of hydrogen daily. Andy Marsh, the CEO of Plug Power, expressed his enthusiasm for this development, highlighting its significance in extending the company's hydrogen infrastructure across the United States. Ken Lane, President and CEO of Olin, emphasized the strategic nature of this joint venture, reflecting Olin's strategy of leveraging its core competencies through collaborations and expansion into adjacent sectors. The launch of the hydrogen liquefaction plant marks a notable milestone for both companies in their efforts to strengthen their presence and operations in the hydrogen sector.
