Nu:ionic and RW Energy to Enhance US Energy Parks with Hydrogen Production and Carbon Capture Technology
Key Ideas
- Nu:ionic Technology and RW Energy will partner to incorporate Nu:ionic’s Teal Hydrogen™ production equipment in US energy parks.
- The technology will allow production of 1.2 to six tonnes of hydrogen a day, with carbon capture capabilities for sequestration or utilization.
- The collaboration aims to offer a cost-effective and low-carbon energy solution by integrating renewable resources into hydrogen production.
- The hydrogen and carbon capture additions are expected to be operational in Northern California, the Gulf Coast of Texas, and Ohio by Q4 2025.
Nu:ionic Technology and RW Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance US energy parks with hydrogen production and advanced carbon capture technology. The partnership will utilize Nu:ionic’s Teal Hydrogen™ production equipment, known for producing high-purity hydrogen and cryogenic liquid carbon dioxide as an industrial-grade by-product. The process will support the production of 1.2 to six tonnes of hydrogen daily at each site, with plans for deployment in Northern California, the Gulf Coast of Texas, and Ohio by Q4 2025. RW Energy's CEO, Darin Knicely, highlighted the integration of renewable resources into methane-based hydrogen production as a cost-effective pathway toward low-carbon energy solutions. Nu:ionic's technology, including the Nu-X Smart ReformerSM, will provide a compact, electrified reformer for natural gas or biogas. The combination of low-cost natural gas with carbon capture and electrification aims to offer a competitive low-carbon hydrogen solution. Overall, the partnership is optimistic about the potential of these advancements in enhancing energy parks across the US with sustainable and efficient hydrogen production.
