Hazer Group, an Australian technology company, has reached a significant milestone under the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) funding agreement, allowing a drawdown of $500,000. The agreement, totaling up to $9.41 million, supports the development of the Hazer Process Commercial Demonstration Project, aiming to establish a 100-tonne-per-year low-emission hydrogen production facility. This project represents a larger scale deployment of the Hazer process, converting natural gas and methane feedstocks into hydrogen and high-quality graphite using iron ore as a catalyst. Hazer has completed 12 months of operations at the commercial plant, with over 1,250 hours of continuous operation, demonstrating process reliability and validating design basis for future projects. The additional $1 million ARENA funding, due between 2025 and 2026, is contingent on meeting milestone deliverables. The company emphasizes the non-dilutive nature of the funds and highlights the support from recent grants to bolster liquidity.
