On Day 1 of New Zealand’s 2024 Aeromed Conference, Life Flight New Zealand and Australian zero-emissions aircraft designer and manufacturer, AMSL Aero, announced a partnership to support future aeromedical operations using AMSL Aero’s Vertiia hydrogen-electric Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft. Vertiia, a world-leading air ambulance powered by hydrogen, combines the vertical take-off capabilities of a helicopter with the smooth flight of a fixed-wing airplane. With a range of up to 1,000km and cruising speeds of 300km per hour, Vertiia aims to offer highly efficient, long-range air ambulance services with zero emissions. Life Flight becomes the first New Zealand development partner for AMSL Aero, with plans to integrate Vertiia into the country's air ambulance fleet.
