Air Products and TotalEnergies have entered a landmark 15-year green hydrogen supply agreement to aid in decarbonizing TotalEnergies' European refineries. The deal involves Air Products supplying 70,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually from 2030, with the aim of replacing grey hydrogen currently used in TotalEnergies' facilities in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. Additionally, TotalEnergies will supply 150MW of renewable power to Air Products' Texan hydrogen plant as part of a power purchase agreement (PPA). Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, expressed confidence in the partnership's contribution to the green hydrogen industry's growth. Seifi Ghasemi, Chairman, President, and CEO of Air Products, emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement in advancing the energy transition and decarbonization efforts. This collaboration illustrates a joint commitment to sustainable practices and marks a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions in the refining and petrochemical sectors. The agreement also includes plans for TotalEnergies to become a green power supplier to Air Products, further solidifying the partnership's broader sustainability goals. Air Products' substantial investment of over $15bn in energy transition projects, such as retrofitting a hydrogen plant in the Netherlands to produce blue hydrogen with carbon capture technology, underlines the company's dedication to driving a cleaner energy future.
