Dutch entrepreneurs Andre and Els Molengraaf have embarked on an ambitious 12,000km road trip across Europe in a hydrogen-fuelled Ford F-150 Lightning pick-up truck. The couple, starting their journey in Oslo, Norway, and aiming to reach Turkey, plan to cover 12 countries showcasing the capabilities of hydrogen as a clean energy source. The Ford truck, capable of driving up to 1,200km on a single fuelling, has been adapted to charge its batteries during driving from a hydrogen-driven generator. It will also tow a camper trailer with extra hydrogen storage tanks, allowing the couple to live sustainably on the road. The trip emphasizes the importance of infrastructure development for hydrogen fueling stations, with only around 265 stations in Europe currently. Andre Molengraaf highlights that hydrogen is not just the fuel of the future anymore and aims to inspire others to consider hydrogen as a viable option for long-distance travel. The journey also focuses on utilizing renewable energy sources like PV solar panels for powering home appliances, showcasing a comprehensive sustainable approach to travel.
