Envision Energy has revealed plans for a groundbreaking $1bn investment in Spain's renewable energy sector, introducing the first integrated green hydrogen Net Zero industrial park in Europe. This project, in collaboration with the Spanish government and various industry and financial leaders, will commence construction in early 2026, aiming to generate 1,000 job opportunities. The industrial park will encompass various functions related to green hydrogen production, such as advanced electrolysis technologies, an air separation unit, ammonia synthesis, and a scalable green ammonia production module. It is endorsed as part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed during the Spanish Prime Minister's visit to China, with a goal to achieve 5 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity and advance Spain's green hydrogen adoption strategy to reduce GHG emissions by 23% by 2030. Envision Energy also plans to establish a Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence within the park. Additionally, the European Commission has granted approval for a €1.2 billion state aid scheme to bolster renewable hydrogen production in Spain, focusing on projects with a capacity of at least 100 MW. Eligible applicants must have agreements covering the majority of the hydrogen or renewable hydrogen-derived fuel production. This massive investment and support signify a significant step towards Spain's leadership in green hydrogen and its commitment to a sustainable energy future.
