France's HDF Energy has proposed deploying model projects of hydrogen-integrated renewable energy on Vietnamese islands, such as Phu Quy in Binh Thuan province and Phu Quoc, Nam Du, and An Son in Kien Giang province. The initiative aims to provide stable, round-the-clock, and clean electricity to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and align with Vietnam's carbon emission reduction goals. HDF Energy, a key player in the hydrogen industry, plans to utilize its expertise in large-scale hydrogen infrastructure and green energy solutions to support Vietnam's sustainable energy development. During a meeting between HDF Energy and Vietnam Electricity (EVN), both parties discussed the cooperation potential in developing hydrogen-integrated renewable power projects, particularly focusing on islands facing electricity infrastructure challenges. EVN's general director expressed support for HDF Energy's proposal and emphasized the importance of technical and economic evaluations for the project. The collaboration intends to ensure compliance with legal regulations and promote sustainable energy practices. HDF Energy's innovative approach, Renewstable®, integrates renewable energy sources with on-site green hydrogen storage to offer continuous baseload power while optimizing capacity. The joint efforts aim to explore deploying the model in suitable localities, leveraging HDF Energy's €5 billion project portfolio and expertise in multi-megawatt fuel cell technology.
