Sirius Aviation AG, a Switzerland-based developer of aviation solutions, has officially unveiled the SiriusJet, the world's first hydrogen-powered luxury business jet. Developed in partnership with BMW Group Designworks, the SiriusJet offers a sustainable alternative to traditional high CO2 emission private jets. This innovative aircraft has a range of up to 1150 miles and can accommodate up to five passengers. It is available in two configurations: a luxury business version for four passengers with a range of 998 nm and a 'Millennium' version for five passengers with a range of 564 nm. The SiriusJet combines Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capabilities with horizontal flight technology, enabling it to take off and land like a helicopter while flying efficiently like an airplane. The hydrogen-electric system onboard draws in oxygen through the aircraft's nose intake, reacting with hydrogen stored in a fuselage tank to generate electricity and water, which is released through the exhaust at the tail. Alexey Popov, the President and CEO of Sirius Aviation AG, expressed pride in the partnership with BMW Group Designworks, highlighting the blend of cutting-edge technology with elegant design in the SiriusJet. He emphasized that the launch of this hydrogen-propelled jet marks a significant step towards sustainable aviation, offering a luxurious travel experience without the environmental guilt associated with traditional private jets.
