HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), a part of Hyundai conglomerate, has achieved Approval in Principle (AIP) from ABS for their innovative hydrogen tank design. This advancement is a significant milestone in facilitating large-scale transport and storage of liquid hydrogen. The new vacuum insulation system can maintain extremely low temperatures while reducing vacuum creation time in large tanks, ensuring safer and more efficient transportation of substantial liquid hydrogen quantities. The ABS Senior Vice President highlighted hydrogen's pivotal role in decarbonization and emphasized the necessity for advanced systems to support its storage and transport as demand increases.
