Horisont Energi has achieved a significant commercial milestone for the Barents Blue project in Northern Norway by signing a non-binding term-sheet for gas supply from the Snøhvit LNG facility at Melkøya. This agreement marks progress towards the concept select milestone and the goal of producing 1 million tons of clean ammonia annually. The project, part of the EU IPCEI Hydrogen initiative, emphasizes high environmental standards and energy efficiency, boasting a carbon capture rate above 99%. Commercial work for gas supply, ammonia offtake, and CO2 storage is advancing, with Sales and Purchase Agreements targeted for completion in 2026. With sufficient power supply secured and support from a NOK482 million grant, the Barents Blue project aims for a final investment decision in 2026 and production start in 2029/2030.
