Two prominent energy companies, SSE and EET Hydrogen, have partnered to establish the Gowy Green Hydrogen project in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This innovative initiative, inspired by the natural surroundings of the River Gowy and Gowy Meadows Nature Reserve, aims to develop a state-of-the-art green hydrogen production facility at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex. The project's primary objective is to supply green hydrogen to industrial off-takers in the region, supporting their efforts to decarbonize operations and ultimately drive job creation in the area. With a focus on low-carbon hydrogen, the UK government's target of achieving 10GW of production by 2030 underscores the critical role hydrogen plays in fostering a cleaner power system and facilitating the decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries.
