Indian air taxi startup Vjaitra Air Mobility has unveiled the VJ220 electric air taxi, the first patented VTOL model in the country. The aircraft meets global aviation standards and is part of initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'. CEO Ratandeep Tripathi envisions a new era for Indian aerospace with advanced and eco-friendly air transportation. Vjaitra is also developing the V-600x, a hydrogen-powered eVTOL for longer regional routes, securing patents for energy management and safety. These innovations support the company's expansion in India, Europe, and the Middle East. The models, aligned with India's UDAN and RCS, aim to democratize air travel. Tripathi highlighted the suitability of the VJ220 for regional routes and the V-600x for longer distances, offering cleaner alternatives to traditional fuels. The company is now focusing on testing, certification, and collaboration with regulators and partners to integrate its models into commercial operations.
