CHARBONE HYDROGEN CORPORATION has entered into a significant partnership with ABB to enhance green hydrogen production in North America. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies outlines plans to establish up to 15 modular and scalable green hydrogen production facilities across the region over the next five years. This collaboration aims to provide a clean fuel source for industrial processes such as steelmaking, currently reliant on grey hydrogen. One of the key projects under this agreement is the development of CHARBONE's Sorel-Tracy facility near Montreal in Quebec, Canada. This flagship facility will be powered by hydro electricity and is expected to set the standard for future green hydrogen production sites. Additionally, the partnership will focus on standardizing engineering processes to enhance energy efficiency and reliability. By leveraging ABB's expertise in designing, engineering, and supplying electrical substations, CHARBONE aims to accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen solutions. The joint efforts also support the decarbonization goals set by the Quebec government and the broader 2030 energy roadmap aimed at reducing petroleum consumption by one billion liters annually.
