During the 9th Ministerial Meeting in Baku, Levan Davitashvili, Georgia's Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, highlighted the importance of exploring the potential for transporting green hydrogen in the South Caucasus region. He pointed out the abundance of renewable resources in the area and the opportunity to integrate Central Asia to further enhance green energy prospects. By utilizing the existing transportation routes and pipeline infrastructure, the region could effectively produce and transport green hydrogen to various markets, enhancing delivery efficiency and attracting investments in additional infrastructure. The discussion at the meeting emphasized how leveraging the established network could pave the way for scaling up green hydrogen production and distribution, making the transit of green hydrogen not just feasible but also economically advantageous. The focus was on utilizing these resources to contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future, aligning with the goals of the COP29 conference. COP29, hosted in Baku, marks a significant event as it is the first time the region has organized such a large-scale conference. The conference aims to reach an agreement on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantitative Goal on climate finance, underlining Azerbaijan's commitment to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development initiatives.
