The Green Hydrogen Hub project at Pudimadaka in Andhra Pradesh, near Visakhapatnam, is a collaborative effort between the state's New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation (NREDCAP) and the NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) of the Union government. The project, part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, involves a massive investment of around ₹1,84,700 crore, with a major portion dedicated to renewable energy capacities and green hydrogen production. The project, spanning over 1,600 acres, aims to be a leading green hydrogen production facility in India, focusing on export markets and derivatives like Green Methanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The Green Hydrogen Hub project is set to generate over 57,000 job opportunities by 2032, significantly contributing to the local economy. It is designed to include a range of facilities such as manufacturing units, chemical zones, storage terminals, and infrastructure like desalination plants and substations, with completion expected by 2032. This initiative aligns with India's energy goals, aiming to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030 and driving decarbonization efforts across major sectors. The Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka is poised to play a pivotal role in India's journey towards energy independence and net zero emissions, showcasing the state's commitment to sustainable energy practices.
