Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has secured a substantial funding of AUD 814 million for the Murchison Green Hydrogen project in Western Australia through the Australian Government's Hydrogen Headstart program. This project is a major commercial-scale green hydrogen and ammonia initiative that is set to produce around 1.8 million tonnes of green ammonia annually, with a primary focus on exporting to Asian markets. Located in the Mid West region, specifically 20km north of Kalbarri, the project will be powered by 6GW of onshore wind and solar generation. The funding reaffirms the shared vision between CIP and the Australian Government to establish a leading green hydrogen industry in Australia. Karsten Uhd Plauborg, a Partner at CIP, expressed gratitude for the funding, emphasizing the potential of projects like the Murchison Green Hydrogen initiative in advancing decarbonization and achieving energy independence.
