In a significant move towards sustainable energy production, Germany's Salzgitter AG has announced a collaboration with ANDRITZ to establish a 100 MW electrolysis plant at their Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH site. This plant, anticipated to be one of Europe's largest green hydrogen facilities, is slated to commence operations in 2026, with an annual production target of approximately 9,000 tons of green hydrogen. The electrolysis plant is a fundamental component of the Salzgitter SALCOS® program, which is focused on achieving carbon neutrality in production processes. The program is planned to be executed in three phases, with the ultimate goal of making Salzgitter's production CO2-free by the conclusion of 2033.
