BP has joined forces with Masdar, Hassan Allam Utilities, and Infinity Power in a joint development agreement (JDA) to explore the potential development of a green hydrogen project in Egypt. The consortium, with BP as the main developer and operator, will investigate the feasibility of a multi-phase project aimed at developing and exporting green hydrogen and its derivatives. A framework agreement has been signed with the Egyptian government to initiate studies assessing the project's technical and commercial viability, in line with Egypt's energy transition plans. Key executives from the partner companies expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing the opportunities for regional cooperation and global market access. The project is seen as a significant step towards advancing green hydrogen development in Egypt and establishing the country as a key player in the green power sector. The export hub is expected to leverage Africa's abundant renewable resources, bringing environmental and economic benefits to Egypt and beyond, while strengthening Egypt's position as a leader in green power technology.
