CPH2 and Hidrigin Partner for Green Hydrogen Production in Ireland
Key Ideas
  • Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2) partners with Hidrigin for the production of Membrane-Free Electrolyser units in Ireland, with a 1MW unit set for delivery in 2025.
  • Hidrigin aims to manufacture up to 2GW of CPH2's electrolyser units for integration with their renewable energy projects globally, bolstered by a €100 million funding for green hydrogen initiatives.
  • Jones Engineering in Ireland will handle the outsourced manufacturing, with plans to scale up production as the project progresses, showcasing a growing demand for green hydrogen technology.
  • The partnership aligns with the UK government's investment in green hydrogen projects, with the latest Budget allocating significant funding to support industrial infrastructure and carbon capture initiatives.
UK-based Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2) has forged a partnership with Irish energy firm Hidrigin to facilitate the production and integration of Membrane-Free Electrolyser (MFE220) units in Ireland. Hidrigin's licensing agreement allows them to manufacture up to 2GW of CPH2's technology for use in their global solar and wind energy projects. The sales contract includes the purchase of a 1MW MFE220 electrolyser, slated for delivery in 2025. This collaboration emphasizes the rising interest in green hydrogen solutions, with Hidrigin securing €100 million in funding to kickstart their renewable energy initiatives. Manufacturing of the MFE220 units will be outsourced to Jones Engineering in Ireland, with plans to transition to a dedicated facility in Lisheen as the project progresses. Hidrigin's CEO, Eric Whelan, praised CPH2's technology as a cost-effective solution for green hydrogen production, expressing enthusiasm for its application in their projects worldwide. The partnership coincides with the UK government's focus on hydrogen and carbon capture, as evidenced in the recent Budget's allocation of £22 billion for green hydrogen projects. Notable among these are Carlton Power's Barrow Green Hydrogen Project and Scottish Power's Whitelee Green Hydrogen facility, reflecting a significant step towards sustainable energy practices.
