Accelera™ by Cummins and GAIL (India) Limited have joined forces to collaborate on advancing green hydrogen production, transportation, and storage in India. The strategic partnership is set to revolutionize India's green energy landscape by combining Accelera's proficiency in hydrogen generation technology with GAIL's well-established natural gas infrastructure. Through this collaboration, the two companies aim to delve into various aspects of green hydrogen technology, including production, blending, transportation, and storage, with a focus on sectors like transport, power, and steel. The successful commissioning of a green hydrogen plant in Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh, marked a significant milestone for GAIL, where Accelera provided a 10MW PEM electrolyzer system. This system, comprising two HyLYZER®-1000 electrolyzer units, produces a substantial 4.3 tons of green hydrogen per day, which is then blended with natural gas to power GAIL's operations on-site. Mr. Alex Savelli, the Global Commercial Leader for Electrolyzers at Accelera, emphasized the immense potential of green hydrogen and the scalability of large-scale electrolysis. Acknowledging the successful partnership with GAIL, he highlighted the opportunity to expedite the adoption of green hydrogen across India by merging cutting-edge technology with GAIL's vast energy infrastructure. Furthermore, this collaboration aligns with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission's ambitious target of producing 5 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030. Mr. Rajeev Kumar Singhal, Director of Business Development at GAIL, underlined the commitment to developing a robust hydrogen value chain in India through partnerships like the one with Accelera. In addition to production activities, the partnership aims to enhance industry knowledge on hydrogen blending, establish industry standards, and explore new applications for green hydrogen technology. Electrolyzers, driven by renewable energy sources, play a crucial role in green hydrogen production. Accelera's expertise in large-scale hydrogen production using PEM electrolysis has been demonstrated globally, with notable installations in Canada and the U.S., further highlighting the company's leadership in this domain. The collaboration between Accelera and GAIL symbolizes a significant step towards fostering sustainable energy practices in India, propelling the nation towards a greener future. By leveraging each other's strengths, the partnership sets the stage for innovative solutions and advancements in the realm of green hydrogen technology.
