Surya International has been awarded a ₹102 crore contract to develop a 200 kW solar-hydrogen-BESS microgrid in Chushul, Ladakh, in collaboration with NTPC REL and the Indian Army. The project aims to provide uninterrupted clean energy to remote defense outposts by replacing diesel generators with renewable energy, cutting carbon emissions by 1,500 tonnes annually. Operating in extreme conditions of -30°C and at an altitude of 4,400 meters, the microgrid will ensure a reliable year-round power supply. The system integrates solar power, hydrogen-based energy storage, and battery energy storage, enabling efficient energy generation and storage.
