Groundbreaking Green Hydrogen Project Accelerates Energy Transition in Germany
Key Ideas
- Accelera by Cummins to supply a 100 MW PEM electrolyzer system for bp's Lingen green hydrogen project in Germany.
- The project, with 20 HyLYZER-1000 electrolyzer units, will produce 11,000 tons of green hydrogen annually once fully commissioned in 2027.
- This initiative signifies a significant step in Germany and Europe's energy transition, supporting sustainability goals and regional economic benefits.
- The use of innovative PEM electrolyzer technology by Accelera highlights enhanced efficiency and scalability, contributing to the growth of the green hydrogen economy.
Accelera by Cummins, the zero-emissions segment of Cummins, is set to supply a cutting-edge 100-megawatt proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer system for bp's ambitious Lingen green hydrogen project in Germany. This venture, expected to be bp's largest hydrogen production facility, will leverage Accelera's advanced HyLYZER PEM electrolyzer technology. The hydrogen-generation system for bp's Lingen project will comprise 20 PEM HyLYZER-1000 electrolyzer units, the largest system assembled by Accelera to date, being produced in Accelera's new plant in Spain. Upon completion in 2027, the 100 MW electrolyzer system will yield around 11,000 tons of green hydrogen annually. Andreas Lippert, Vice President of Electrolyzers at Accelera, expressed the project's importance in advancing Germany and Europe's energy transition by partnering with bp, a key industry player. Felipe Arbelaez, bp's Senior Vice President for Hydrogen, praised the project's regional economic benefits, sustainability support, and acceleration of low-carbon industrial practices. The collaborative efforts highlight Accelera's groundbreaking PEM electrolyzer technology, emphasizing efficiency, scalability, and optimized design, propelling the growth of the green hydrogen sector.
