Hydrom, representing Oman's national interest in green hydrogen, and thyssenkrupp nucera have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in supporting the growing green hydrogen sector in Oman. The agreement, signed in Muscat during Hydrom's inaugural gH2 Investor Day, aims to focus on localization and exploring development opportunities. Abdulaziz Said Al Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrom, highlighted the potential of green hydrogen in Oman's clean economy, aiming to position the country as a global hub for green hydrogen. Werner Ponikwar, CEO at thyssenkrupp nucera, expressed commitment to bring expertise in electrolysis technology to support Oman's ambitions. Oman, strategically located between major green hydrogen demand centers, is seen as a first-mover in the global hydrogen market. The country's Vision 2040 focuses on sustainability and net-zero emissions by 2050, with green hydrogen playing a crucial role. Hydrom unveiled plans for the third round of public land bidding for green hydrogen projects to attract investors and prepare infrastructure, contributing to Oman's economic diversification. Previous bidding rounds have already led to substantial investments and partnerships, such as the Hyport Duqm project involving DEME, OQ, and BP. With these initiatives, Oman is poised to make a significant impact on the global green hydrogen landscape.
