The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and ACCIONA have formed a strategic partnership to advance sustainable infrastructure projects in emerging markets, starting with initiatives in Peru and Brazil. In Peru, IFC will support ACCIONA's power transmission projects to enhance the national grid and increase renewable energy integration. The partnership will also aid in financing São Paulo's new Metro Line 6 in Brazil, significantly improving public transportation and reducing commute times. The collaboration includes a $600 million green and sustainability-linked loan to support these projects, with additional tranches planned for other sustainable infrastructure endeavours. The loan structure promotes green practices and local impact, aligning with EU taxonomy and UN Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, the partnership supports ACCIONA's 'Dual Impact' philosophy by focusing on providing essential services to communities in Brazil and Peru. This collaborative effort aims to drive sustainable development, decarbonize energy sectors, and enhance resilience in the region. The agreement also involves a bankability review of a green hydrogen project in Brazil, showcasing a commitment to innovation and sustainable practices.
