The 10th meeting of the India-EU Energy Panel was recently held in Brussels, focusing on the energy transition priorities of both India and the European Union. The meeting reviewed the achievements of the 2nd Phase of the India-EU Clean Energy and Climate Partnership 2021-2024. Co-chaired by Tanmaya Lal from the Ministry of External Affairs (India) and Ms. Ditte Juul Jorgensen from the European Commission, the meeting included representatives from key ministries on both sides.
The discussions during the meeting involved joint initiatives in 51 activities across nine sectors. A significant outcome was the establishment of a framework for green hydrogen cooperation, addressing policies and collaboration in this area between India and the EU. Both entities actively participated in international conferences on green hydrogen in each other's regions.
The India-EU partnership also includes commitments to support clean energy projects through the India-EU Trade and Technology Council Working Group on Clean and Green Technologies. The Work Plan for the 3rd Phase (2025-2028) of the India-EU Clean Energy and Climate Partnership focuses on five key areas, such as green hydrogen, offshore wind, and energy efficiency, aiming for deeper cooperation. The agenda for green hydrogen cooperation includes infrastructure development, regulatory alignment, technology sharing, and supply chain enhancement.
Furthermore, the Panel welcomed the involvement of the EU and its Member States in the International Solar Alliance and emphasized continued collaboration with organizations like the International Energy Agency. Both India and the EU committed to engaging closely on clean energy within the G20 framework, showcasing a strong dedication to advancing clean and renewable energy initiatives.
