OQ Gas Networks (OQGN), a key player in Oman's energy sector, is driving the development of green hydrogen infrastructure in the country. Leveraging their expertise, OQGN is actively working to reduce the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) production to support Oman's green hydrogen economy. As part of OQ Group, a state-owned company, OQGN is collaborating with government and public sector stakeholders to develop hydrogen pipeline infrastructure, aiming to facilitate the transportation of green hydrogen. The company has been designated as the National Infrastructure Provider for hydrogen pipelines, positioning itself as a crucial player in Oman's energy transition. Oman has set ambitious targets to become a major exporter of green energy, including hydrogen and its derivatives, and OQGN is at the forefront of this initiative. Through partnerships with entities like Hydrom, OQGN is actively involved in feasibility studies and planning for hydrogen pipeline networks. The company has signed agreements to support Oman's goal of producing and exporting 1 million metric tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030, with a long-term target of 8 million metric tons by 2050. OQGN is also engaged in a pre-front-end engineering and design study for a Common Use Infrastructure (CUI) system in collaboration with Hydrom. This system will facilitate green hydrogen projects across allocated land blocks, with the aim of processing hydrogen into derivatives like green ammonia and green methanol for export. Furthermore, OQGN plans to develop and operate pipeline networks to transport green hydrogen to a dedicated processing zone near the Port of Duqm. This hydrogen will not only be used for export but will also support industries like steel and aluminum, contributing to decarbonization efforts. With a proven track record in operating Oman's natural gas transportation network, OQGN is well-positioned to drive the growth of green hydrogen infrastructure in the country.
