Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is ambitious about becoming a USD 1 trillion company by 2047 by combining growth in traditional oil refining and fuel marketing with clean energy avenues like green hydrogen and EV charging. The company's chairman, Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, announced a record net profit and revenue for the 2023-24 fiscal year, emphasizing the company's commitment to investing in both fossil fuels and new energy sectors to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2046. IOC plans to expand its oil refining capacity, invest in petrochemical units, focus on gas, biofuels, and clean mobility, and set up green hydrogen plants across all refineries. Additionally, the company is establishing a subsidiary for green initiatives to consolidate its renewable energy projects and aims to enhance its renewable energy capacity to 31 GW by 2030. Collaborations with technology companies like Panasonic and Phinergy are in place for battery solutions and renewable energy projects.
