The Government of India, through the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, has unveiled guidelines for funding testing facilities and infrastructure development under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This initiative, launched to support the development of a robust testing ecosystem for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives, aims to address existing gaps in testing facilities within the value chain. With a budget of Rs. 200 Crores allocated until the financial year 2025-26, the scheme emphasizes the creation of new facilities and enhancements to ensure safe operations. The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) has been designated as the Scheme Implementation agency to oversee the establishment of quality and performance testing facilities. By promoting sustainability, safety, and quality in Green Hydrogen production and trade, the scheme aligns with India's vision of achieving self-reliance through clean energy. The broader Green Hydrogen Mission launched in 2023 sets ambitious goals for India's energy future. With a substantial budget allocation up to FY 2029-30, the mission aims to drive economic decarbonization, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and position India as a global leader in Green Hydrogen technology. This strategic focus not only contributes to India's energy security but also sets the stage for a cleaner and more sustainable energy landscape.
