Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) Green Hydrogen Hub Project in Andhra Pradesh, highlighting a key milestone in India's green energy journey. As the country's first Green Hydrogen Hub under the National Green Hydrogen (NGH) Mission, the project signifies a significant advancement in renewable energy. This venture, a partnership between NGEL and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), aims to develop 20 GW of renewable energy projects. Central to its vision is the production of 1,500 tonnes per day (TPD) of green hydrogen and 7,500 TPD of green derivatives, promising to reshape India's clean energy landscape. With an estimated investment of Rs 1.85 lakh crore, the project not only provides an economic boost to Andhra Pradesh but also is anticipated to create job opportunities and spur growth in local industries. The initiative is in line with India's broader goal of achieving 500 GW non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, demonstrating the country's dedication to a sustainable future. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of such initiatives in transitioning towards cleaner energy sources and enhancing energy independence. NGEL's plans extend beyond Andhra Pradesh, with a Memorandum of Understanding signed with Rajasthan to develop 25 GW of renewable energy projects. Discussions with other states are ongoing, indicating NGEL's commitment to expanding its presence in green energy. The project underscores the potential of collaborative efforts in driving India towards a sustainable, energy-secure future.
