India's National Green Hydrogen Mission has kickstarted five pilot projects focusing on the utilization of hydrogen in buses and trucks. With support from major companies like TATA Motors, Reliance Industries, and NTPC, these projects include 37 vehicles and 9 hydrogen refueling stations across various routes in the country. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has sanctioned these projects, which aim to assess the effectiveness and viability of hydrogen-based vehicles and refueling stations under real-world conditions. Financially supported by the Indian government, these pilot projects are set to be operational within the next 18-24 months, fostering the growth of commercially viable hydrogen technologies in the transport sector. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, initiated in January 2023 with a substantial budget, aims to drive decarbonization, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and position India as a key player in the global Green Hydrogen market.
