In a groundbreaking move, UK cleantech specialist Bramble Energy has teamed up with Taiwan-based Tripod Technology Corporation and Tripod Nanotechnology Corporation to launch a £1.5 million initiative called the 'POWER project.' This project aims to advance Bramble's Printed Circuit Board AEM Electrolyser (PCBEL™) technology, with the goal of revolutionizing hydrogen production. Co-funded by Innovate UK and Taiwan's Department of Industrial Technology, the project focuses on optimizing water electrolysis with reduced precious metal content. The key milestones achieved so far include demonstrating the technology in a 25 kW stack, using a less corrosive potassium hydroxide solution. The project aims to lower the cost of AEM electrolyser stacks by enhancing durability and operational flexibility. Through collaborative efforts, the consortium plans to refine the PCBEL™ cell and stack design, integrate breakthrough catalysts, and develop membrane electrode assemblies. Dr. Tom Mason, CEO of Bramble Energy, expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the technological advancements and the commitment to affordability and sustainability. Aleck Lin, Vice President of Tripod Technology, highlighted the importance of innovation in catalyst and membrane electrode technology for improved performance and material sustainability. The initiative comes at a crucial time when governments and industries are actively seeking sustainable solutions for decarbonization. The consortium's efforts position them at the forefront of the next-generation AEM electrolyser market, contributing to a resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure for the future.
