The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in India has announced the issuance of scheme guidelines for funding testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. With a total budget of Rs 200 crore, the scheme will run until the financial year 2025-26. The focus of the scheme is to enhance the quality, sustainability, and safety of Green Hydrogen (GH2) production and trade through the development of robust testing facilities. It aims to address gaps in existing testing facilities for components, technologies, and processes in the Green Hydrogen value chain. The scheme will facilitate the establishment of new testing facilities and the upgrading of existing ones to ensure secure operations. Additionally, the National Green Hydrogen Mission, initiated in January 2023, has a substantial outlay of Rs 19,744 crore until the financial year 2029-30. This mission aligns with India's objective of achieving self-reliance through clean energy and will also act as a model for the global Clean Energy Transition. The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) will serve as the Scheme Implementation Agency (SIA) for this initiative.
