Key Ideas
  • The Government of India is inviting proposals to establish Centres of Excellence under the National Green Hydrogen Mission to drive innovation in Green Hydrogen technologies.
  • These CoEs will focus on research, skill-building, and knowledge sharing to enhance process efficiencies, develop new products, and promote collaboration across sectors.
  • The initiative, part of India's broader clean energy goals, aims to strengthen energy independence, reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, and position the country as a global leader in Green Hydrogen technology.
The Government of India, through the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has announced the invitation of proposals to establish Centres of Excellence (CoEs) under the National Green Hydrogen Mission’s Research and Development (R&D) Scheme. These CoEs will serve as hubs for cutting-edge research, skill-building, and knowledge sharing, focusing on enhancing process efficiencies, developing new products, and fostering collaboration across various sectors. The initiative, supported by a budget of ₹100 crore, aims to propel advancements in Green Hydrogen technologies. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2023 with a budget of ₹19,744 crore, seeks to reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports and decarbonize the economy. By fostering innovation in Green Hydrogen, India aims to bolster its energy independence and sustainability goals, positioning itself as a key player in the global Green Hydrogen technology and market landscape.
