- SECI issues a Request for Selection (RfS) for Green Ammonia producers, under the SIGHT Scheme, with a significant capacity for annual production and a focus on meeting the country's sustainable energy demands.
- The initiative, part of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme, aims to drive the production and supply of Green Ammonia in India through a transparent and competitive bidding process.
- The National Green Hydrogen Mission, with a substantial budget allocation, aims to propel India towards self-reliance in clean energy, fostering innovation and technology leadership in the global clean energy transition.
India has taken a monumental step towards promoting demand for Green Hydrogen by launching a pioneering initiative through the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). SECI has issued a Request for Selection (RfS) for Green Ammonia producers in line with the objectives of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This initiative, under the SIGHT Scheme, offers an opportunity for the production and supply of Green Ammonia in India, with a 36-month project completion period. The bidding process, managed by SECI, aims to identify producers capable of meeting the country's increasing need for sustainable energy solutions.
The RfS falls under Component II of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme, led by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). With a focus on incentivizing Green Ammonia production through cost-based competitive bidding, SECI is set to drive the procurement efficiently and transparently, targeting the supply to fertilizer companies. The initiative includes leveraging e-bidding and e-Reverse Auction mechanisms to facilitate the procurement process.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission, established with a substantial budget allocation until FY 2029-30, aims to enhance self-reliance in clean energy by promoting significant decarbonization and reducing reliance on fossil fuel imports. Through innovation and technology leadership in Green Hydrogen, India strives to position itself as a key player in the global clean energy transition, aligning with its clean energy ambitions.
