INOXAP Commissions India's First Green Hydrogen Plant for Sustainable Glass Production
Key Ideas
  • INOXAP commissions India's first green hydrogen plant at AIS facility in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, promoting sustainable glass production.
  • The plant, powered by solar energy, will generate up to 190 tonnes of green hydrogen annually for the float glass manufacturing process.
  • AIS has signed a 20-year offtake agreement with INOXAP for the supply of green hydrogen, showcasing a commitment to reducing carbon footprint in glass manufacturing.
  • The initiative marks a significant step towards India's energy transition and a sustainable future, emphasizing the importance of green hydrogen in decarbonisation.
INOX Air Products (INOXAP) has announced the commissioning of India's first green hydrogen manufacturing plant at Asahi India Glass' (AIS) greenfield float glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. The plant, powered by solar energy, will produce up to 190 tonnes of green hydrogen annually through electrolysis, marking the first use of green hydrogen in India's float glass manufacturing. INOXAP is responsible for the plant's design, engineering, installation, and operations to supply green hydrogen to AIS for 20 years. Initially, 95 TPA green hydrogen will be supplied to AIS, with the renewable energy sourced from a solar power plant. The collaboration between AIS and INOXAP signifies a commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon footprint in the glass manufacturing process. Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOX Air Products, highlighted the significance of the project in India's energy transition towards decarbonisation. The initiative underlines the importance of green hydrogen in achieving a secured energy future for India and the planet, positioning it as a pivotal element in the country's sustainable development.
