KBR has recently been awarded an advisory consulting contract by Kuwait Oil Company to develop a comprehensive masterplan for renewable energy and green hydrogen production in Kuwait. The project aims to achieve 17GW of renewables and 25GW of green hydrogen by the year 2050. Under this contract, KBR will provide consulting services to create a phased strategy that integrates significant wind and solar power generation with storage capabilities. The green hydrogen produced will cater to internal industrial needs and will also be targeted for export. The consultancy work, scheduled to span the next 18 months, will involve conducting market analysis, techno-commercial feasibility studies, and providing training to Kuwaiti nationals to ensure local involvement and knowledge transfer. Jay Ibrahim, the President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, expressed excitement about participating in this important national strategy in Kuwait. He emphasized KBR's advisory capabilities in facilitating major energy transition investments at a national level, citing their successful track record in project delivery and technology deployment in the GCC region.
