LBS Bina Group Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Invest Sabah Bhd, Sabah Forestry Development Authority (Safoda), and Midwest Green Sdn Bhd to develop a green hydrogen production facility in Kota Marudu, Sabah. This facility will be powered by solar and wind energy and will cover a potential site ranging from 15,000 to 30,000 acres. The collaboration aims to align with national and state sustainability goals, focusing on exploring the land for sustainable development. The project targets an annual production of 10GW of green hydrogen, which could generate over 250,000 tonnes per year. Kota Marudu's advantageous location with high solar irradiance levels and consistent wind speeds, combined with access to nearby seaports, makes it an ideal site for renewable energy production and export. This initiative not only contributes to Malaysia's green energy agenda but also emphasizes sustainable growth and innovation. The partnership is set to create job opportunities for local communities and pave the way for future green industrial parks, positioning Sabah as a significant player in the renewable energy sector.
