Lhyfe and Deutsche Bahn have joined forces to advance the use of green hydrogen in powering climate-neutral trains, with a focus on sustainable transportation solutions. In Tübingen, a green hydrogen production plant with an annual capacity of up to 30 tons has been established by Lhyfe for Deutsche Bahn, utilizing green electricity from the railway company's portfolio. This collaboration is part of the 'H2goesRail' project, which will see the operation of a climate-neutral hydrogen train on a test route connecting Tübingen, Horb, and Pforzheim in Baden-Württemberg. The project not only emphasizes the environmental benefits of hydrogen-powered trains but also highlights the economic viability of such solutions in the transport sector. Luc Graré, from Lhyfe, underlines the importance of sustainable energy sources and innovative technologies in decarbonizing transport, positioning hydrogen-powered trains as a clean and efficient alternative to conventional diesel trains. Lhyfe's ambitions extend beyond the current project, with plans to establish additional green hydrogen production plants in Europe, including a 10 MW facility in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The company envisions becoming a key player in the mobility and industry sectors, with a target of providing green hydrogen deliveries in tube trailers to customers in France and Germany by 2025. The partnership between Lhyfe and Deutsche Bahn marks a significant step towards integrating green hydrogen production into customer processes, setting the stage for further advancements in sustainable transportation powered by hydrogen.
