Lhyfe Signs Major Green Hydrogen Supply Deal in Germany
Key Ideas
  • Lhyfe secures a 5-year deal with H2 MOBILITY Deutschland to supply over 1,200 tonnes of green hydrogen to four refueling stations in Germany.
  • Hydrogen will be sourced from renewable power sources, qualifying as Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO), contributing to decarbonization efforts.
  • The partnership aims to make green hydrogen available in large volumes for the mobility sector, enabling a shift towards zero-carbon transport at a significant scale.
  • Germany's commitment to green hydrogen is evident through its expanding infrastructure and ambitious targets outlined in the National Hydrogen Strategy.
Green hydrogen producer Lhyfe has entered a significant agreement with H2 MOBILITY Deutschland to provide over 1,200 tonnes of green hydrogen to four refueling stations in Germany. The hydrogen, derived from renewable sources, will be sourced from Lhyfe's planned production site in Schwäbisch Gmünd, set to be the largest green hydrogen plant in Baden-Württemberg. The deal, spanning five years, is a major step towards decarbonization in the transport sector. H2 MOBILITY aims to establish a fully green hydrogen network in Germany by 2028, with support from partners like Lhyfe. Germany's proactive approach to green hydrogen includes the operation of around 100 hydrogen refueling stations and plans to install five gigawatts of electrolyser capacity by 2030. The country's focus on sustainable energy solutions aligns with European initiatives like the Hydrogen Backbone project, signaling a transition towards cleaner energy in transport and industrial sectors.
