NLC India Limited, a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise, recently celebrated its 10th year in renewable energy generation, showcasing a decade of innovation and progress. The company became the first Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) in India to achieve 1 GW of renewable energy capacity, emphasizing its commitment to green technologies and sustainability. With 1,380 MW of solar and 51 MW of wind power capacity, NLCIL has successfully generated 1,234 crore units of green energy, playing a crucial role in reducing CO2 emissions by 1 crore tonnes. The company's efforts align with the national goal of transitioning towards net-zero emissions by 2070. Looking towards the future, NLCIL has ambitious plans to reach 10,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, supported by new subsidiaries like NLC India Renewables Ltd and NLC India Green Energy Ltd. Under the guidance of Union Minister of Coal and Mines Shri G Kishan Reddy, NLCIL is actively involved in projects related to solar, wind, energy storage, green hydrogen, and lignite-to-methanol conversion. The company's current capacity of 1.4 GW is set to expand significantly with upcoming projects in Neyveli, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Assam. Furthermore, NLCIL recently secured a power purchase agreement for 200 MW of solar energy with Telangana DISCOMs, furthering its commitment to sustainable power generation in India.
