The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) has released a report focusing on the challenges faced by the hydrogen sector in the UK. The report, 'Measurement challenges in the hydrogen sector', emphasizes the importance of addressing key challenges in production, storage, distribution, and end-use of hydrogen to support the country's net zero goals. These challenges include reducing production costs, expanding infrastructure for storage and distribution, developing advanced research facilities, and filling gaps in regulations and standards. NPL scientist Ali Al-Sikab highlighted the significant investments made by the UK government in green hydrogen and the importance of metrology in driving the standardization and commercial adoption of hydrogen technologies. NPL is committed to collaborating with various stakeholders to overcome the identified challenges and propel hydrogen technologies as a vital alternative energy source in the UK's energy transition.
