NTPC Unveils Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Bus at Mahakumbh 2025
Key Ideas
- NTPC collaborates with MNRE to showcase a cutting-edge Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Bus at Mahakumbh 2025.
- The bus can store 50 kg of hydrogen and cover over 600 km emissions-free, emphasizing NTPC's commitment to decarbonization.
- NTPC extends its green mobility initiatives with projects in Leh, Pudimadaka, and a partnership with Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat.
- These efforts underline NTPC's dedication to leading the transition towards clean energy and promoting green hydrogen technologies.
NTPC, in partnership with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has introduced a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Bus (FCEB) at the Mahakumbh 2025 event, providing attendees with a glimpse of cutting-edge green mobility. The bus, powered by hydrogen, will be showcased at Mahakumbh until February 26, 2025. MNRE's National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) has aided NTPC in establishing Green Hydrogen refueling stations in Greater Noida and Bhubaneswar and deploying these innovative buses. These buses have the capacity to store 50 kg of hydrogen at 350 bar in a single refueling and can travel over 600 km before needing another refill, emitting only water vapor. This initiative showcases NTPC's dedication to decarbonization and energy security through sustainable fuel solutions. NTPC's green mobility commitment extends to projects like the Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses in Leh, located at a high altitude of 3,650 meters, and the Green Hydrogen Hub Project in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh, with a substantial investment of Rs 1.85 lakh crore. Additionally, NTPC's subsidiary, NGEL, has signed an MoU with Deendayal Port Authority to promote green hydrogen technologies at Kandla Port, Gujarat. These endeavors highlight NTPC's role in driving the shift towards clean energy and innovative mobility solutions.
