Pembrokeshire has marked a significant milestone in the green energy revolution with the approval of a major green hydrogen plant by RWE, Wales’s largest power producer. The Pembroke Green Hydrogen plant, equipped with a 100MWe electrolyser capable of producing two tonnes of hydrogen per hour, is poised to be instrumental in decarbonizing industrial activities in South Wales. The project, part of RWE's Pembroke Net Zero Centre, is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 93,000 tonnes annually, equivalent to taking 18,600 cars off the road each year. The initiative not only aims to cut emissions but also secure jobs at the Pembroke Power Station, inject economic benefits into the area, and create new opportunities during construction and operation phases. The plant's approval has been lauded by local authorities and MPs, emphasizing Pembrokeshire's leadership in renewable energy technologies and its role in ensuring a sustainable energy future.
