Simply Blue Group has revealed plans to establish a green hydrogen-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Nova Scotia, Canada. The project is set to commence construction in 2026 and be operational by 2029. It will leverage onshore wind and solar energy to power the green hydrogen and SAF production facility, with an emphasis on utilizing residual biomass from the region. By securing 755 acres of land in Goldboro and partnering with local renewable energy sources, Simply Blue aims to contribute significantly to sustainable aviation fuel production, potentially yielding 150,000 tonnes annually. The company's Chief Operating Officer, Michael Galvin, highlighted the extensive preparatory work and supply agreements in place to ensure the project's success. The initiative has garnered praise from various stakeholders, including Forest Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables. By creating a market for residual biomass, Simply Blue promotes forest management practices and strengthens the region's forestry sector.
