The Tasmanian Green Hydrogen Hub at Bell Bay has advanced to the next stage with the initiation of a Registrations of Interest process to identify potential industry partners. Minister for Energy and Renewables, Nick Duigan, highlighted this as a crucial step in Tasmania's renewable energy development. The Hub, backed by grant funding of up to $70 million from the Commonwealth and support from the Tasmanian 2024-25 State Budget, aims to leverage Tasmania's competitive advantages to attract investment, drive economic growth, and support the state's shift towards renewable energy. With the potential to create 740 jobs and produce 45,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually, the Hub is poised to be a significant contributor to regional development and sustainability.
