The Team Europe Renewable Hydrogen Funding Platform for Chile, established in Santiago de Chile, aims to support Chile's renewable hydrogen industry and help the country reach its target of achieving 100% clean energy by 2050. The platform, signed by the European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB), KfW Development Bank, CORFO, and the Chilean Ministry of Energy, will provide financial support of up to €200 million to Chile, with an additional grant of €16.5 million from the EU Latin America and Caribbean Investment Facility. This initiative is aligned with Chile's ambition to transition to renewable and clean energy sources. The operation is expected to contribute to the development of 150 MW of new renewable energy generation capacity and 150 MW of new electrolysers capacity in Chile. European Commissioner Jozef Sikela emphasized the importance of renewable hydrogen for the future energy landscape, highlighting the collaboration between entities as a strategic resource towards innovative projects. The initiative is praised by various stakeholders, including Minister of Energy Diego Pardow and Executive Vice-President of CORFO José Miguel Benavente, for its potential to create green jobs and support the decarbonisation process.
