Tunisia recently took a significant step in the direction of green energy by signing six memoranda of understanding with European companies for the production of green hydrogen. The agreements, finalized on July 29, 2024, were supervised by the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy Fatima Thabet Shiboub, alongside the Secretary of State in charge of Energy Transition Wael Shoshan. The companies involved in these projects are a mix of local and international players including Tunur in collaboration with Aker Horizons and Verbund, Savannah Energy, Hydrogen of France, DEME Hyport, Abo Energy, and an alliance between Amarenco and H2 Global. This partnership is a significant milestone for Tunisia as it underscores the country's dedication to embracing renewable energy sources and transitioning towards a more sustainable future. By venturing into green hydrogen production, Tunisia aims to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to the global efforts in combating climate change.
