Egypt is set on becoming a leading producer of carbon-free green hydrogen, as announced by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The country aims to achieve this by the year 2030 through the utilization of green hydrogen, produced via water electrolysis using renewable energy sources like water, solar, and wind power. This approach ensures that the entire production process is environmentally friendly and carbon-free. Offshore wind power plants are being considered as a prime option for implementing this strategy in Egypt. The recent cabinet reshuffle, which saw the inclusion of over 20 new ministers and the establishment of the Ministry of Investment, indicates the government's commitment to driving economic growth and sustainability through initiatives like green hydrogen production.
